Washington law note (August 12, 2026): After a collision involving injury, death, or damage to attended property, Washington law generally requires the driver to stop, exchange specified information, and render reasonable assistance. If a driver’s collision report is required and an investigating officer will not submit one, the driver generally must file it within four days. Personal-injury claims commonly have a three-year limitation period, but government and specialized claims can use different notice or filing rules.
